Hello,
We are John and Courtney Green. We were both
raised in large families where food was scarce as
were other necessities. Before we were married, we
agreed to have a small family so that our children
would be properly taken care of. We were married on
May 15, 1994. We got pregnant the week after we got
married. Our first daughter, Samantha, was born in
February of 1995. Before Samantha reached her first
birthday, we were pregnant again even though we
were using birth control pills at the time. Our
second daughter, Bethany, was born in November of
1996. There were complications when Bethany was born
and the delivery was a very hard one ending in an
emergency c-section after Bethany had stopped
breathing
altogether. Bethany was extremely ill at birth and
was not expected to live without severe brain
damage. We didn't want to risk going through
anything like that again. We decided that we needed
to do something more permanent in the way of birth
control. So we agreed to have a vasectomy done.
We were a military family at the time so the
military performed the surgery free of charge. And
we had no regrets about it until we attended our
first Basic Seminar where we learned about letting
God plan the size of your family. We realized then
that we had made a mistake and that we had sinned by
doubting God's provision and depending on ourselves
for our basic needs. God changed our hearts and
made us willing to accept as many little blessings
as He wanted to send us. We checked into
vas reversals in our area. $7,500 was the cheapest
we found. We could never afford that . A friend of
ours sent us an e-mail about the Blessed Arrows
ministry and we read it over and deleted it thinking
that there was no way BA would ever approve us for
funding. About a year later, we decided to fill out
an application for Blessed Arrows to fund the
surgery and just see what happened. They approved
us!!! We couldn't believe it. We had our reversal
surgery on October 25,2002. God has
proved to us through the years that He is the one
who provides for us and that He will continue to do
so whether there are four of us or twenty four of
us! By the way, Bethany is a very healthy little
girl. God healed her completely. We're not sure
what God has for us in the future, but there is
peace in letting God have control again.
Sincerely,
John and Courtney Green |
